It’s another season of lagos fashion design week and its always an exciting season for fashion enthusiasts, stylists, designers and the fashion industry as a whole.
This season of lagos fashion design week saw a ton of great shows both on and off schedule and I must say I’m excited for all of the trends for spring summer 2023
In no particular order, here are a few of my favourite looks from spring summer 2023 runway shows .

Shirt: vintage and accessories from @mjsstylefactory
The wide collar shirt is a style trend for 2020. A vintage shirt is a must have in your closet, it is such a versatile piece of clothing. Here are 5 ways to style the wide collar shirt effortlessly.
Look 1: Go retro with wide leg pants Wide leg trousers amplifies the entire ensemble, giving it a real vintage look. pairing it with high waist denims makes it fun to wear. wearing a pair of open toe sandals or wedges elevates this look.
Look 2: Add some pleats with it. pairing your wide collar shirt with a vintage pleated skirt is such a great idea and a fun way to enjoy this look, mixing floral prints adds that extra vibe to the look. you can easily wear this to work, just feel free to pair them with your most comfortable shoes, which ever style is your preference.
Look 3 : Layer with a jumpsuit. Layering a wide collar shirt with a jumpsuit is yet another amazing way to get more wear from this shirt. The key is to pair it up with a sleeveless jumpsuit so the sleeves and collar can shine through , just as i did in this photo .
Look 4: Cullotte. Styling a wide collar shirt with a pair of culotte is a such stylish way to wear this trend. it exudes a very effortless, yet classy way to wear this trend. This look will smoothly take you from a day to night look, the trick is to wear comfortable shoes and switch up your accessories to a pair of statement earrings, and you are good – to – go.
Look 5: Blazer with a touch of athleisure. Wearing a blazer on a wide collar shirt is definitely a funky way to style it up. just like it was worn in the 70’s, going further and adding a pair of dressy track pants is what i call a wowzer, as this automatically becomes 3 trends in one look. No doubt , heads will surely turn with this look.
Style tips to help:
Have fun wearing whatever style of shoes you prefer with each of this looks.
A pair of nice statement earrings, either small or chunky will elevate this shirt.
Don’t be afraid to have fun when styling this look, vintage fashion was and still is loads of fun.

Did you know that polka dots is a 2020 trend? I bet you didn’t know. 😆 Well, this is why you have me, to dish out all the style trends you need to know and have in your closet. Some people feel styling polka can be complicated and a tad- bit difficult to style , but, not to worry , i am here to help solve that problem.
The focus in this tutorial is this pastel polka dot wrap dress. I chose this dress as it is more versatile to get more wear from it and have fun while styling it. so, here goes..
Look 1: Wrap Around Just to show you how amazing and easy it is to style a polka dot dress, you can simply wear it as it is. just add fun statement shoes like this Valentino rock studs and some statement jewelry and you are good -to- go.
Look 2: Show some hot legs Throw on a tank top and your sexiest mini skirt, layer up with a polka dot wrap dress and stunt on them with your bad self, lol. If your feel a little too exposed in this outfit or not so confident in it, simply wrap the dress up but leave some room to show off your legs. Add some nice strappy heels and accessories and let your light shine through.
Bonus tip: drizzle some baby oil on your legs for some shine or show less skin by wearing lacy panty hose to maintain the sexy theme.
Look 3: Go extra comfy with it. For a more laid back, casual look, simply wear a T-shirt of your choice. I chose white to blend with the white dots on the dress, but you can go with whatever color of T- shirt you desire ,i added some boyfriend jeans and a white pair of sneakers for a very chilled laid back look. The key is to wear a T-shirt and any style of jeans you own in your closet and have the dress work as a jacket or kimono for you, the sneakers tops it up to achieve that casual look we are going for.
Look 4: Dress it up One of the easiest way to style this polka dot dress, is to wear a slip dress with it. simply whip out that sultry slip dress and feel all so girly in this look, add a belt for that extra hour glass look and don’t forget to play with some nice stand out accessories, like a head band which are very on trend at the moment or nice earrings and comfy shoes to seal the look.
Look 5: Who says you can’t have a girl about town look wearing polka dots? well, its super easy to slay and turn heads in polka dots by adding black body suit and a pair of leggings , this ultimately transforms this simple dress to a stunner.
The trick is to wear a contrasting color to your dress, in this case i added black, if your dress is black, you can still add black or a pop of color like red ,navy, nude or even pink. make sure your layering pieces are form fitting, it could even be a body con dress. All you need are killer heels, statement accessories and that Naomi Campbell walk!!

The key focus is a marigold skirt. you can apply all style ideas to whatever marigold piece you may have.
Look 1: Lets go color blocking
Blending colors with marigold is always a good idea. go all out with a bright color to create a color block look. green is always a stunner and wearing a mini dress with this marigold skirt gives it a very chic look.
Little accessories like a skinny belt breaks the look and makes it more stylish, go with colored earrings and printed shoes for that extra color block fiasco.
Look 2 : Add metallics
You would think pairing marigold with silver or metallic colors would never work together, but , i say they are a match made in fashion. pairing a silver blouse even further tones down the brightness of this color trend , which allow you to play with other colors like adding a pair of red shoes to the look, or any other color you desire.
Look3 : Floral magic
Pairing a floral blazer with this marigold skirt is such a stunner. It gives a very rich look and can convinently take you from a day to night look. The trick is to add some fun minimal accessories, preferably gold to complete the look.
Look 4: Talking Prints
wearing prints is always a great idea with any style of clothing. Pairing prints with marigold is such an effortless yet fun way to style this color trend. to add more zest to the look, i tied up the skirt t to make it extra chic and went with pastel green strappy sandals.
Look 5: Slip into it.
slip dress / blouse are so on trend this season and also for 2020. For a night out , go with a sultry slip dress or blouse with a marigold skirt , it immediately gives you a very fun yet flirty look, add some fun accessories like tassel earrings and finish up with ankle strappy shoes or a shoe stopping pair of shoes and let your hair down for the night.
Style tips:
Marigold is a bright color, but you can also have fun playing with different bright colors or cool tone colors.
minimal accessories is the way to go with this color trend.
Always wear what you are most comfortable in, this way, you will have more fun experimenting with this trend.
Have fun while wearing this trend. style should be enjoyed.

Nude and neutrals are very easy seamless colors to style and they are must have have in your closet. They serve as an alternative to the color white. Also, the utilitarian trend ( pieces with outer pockets )is also a hit this year, so why not try two trends in one.
The style focus is a nude utilitarian shirt dress and the functionality of it.
Look 1: Tres Chic Style this dress by undoing some buttons on the top and the base , so you can show a little skin if that is your jam, if not just wear it as it is. Throw on a nice pair of mules of your choice, either chunky, high or kitten heel mules to give it an extra chic look, don’t forget to add some gold or fun accessories to finish this look.
Look 2: Rock Star For a retro and funky look, throw on a denim jacket and some some boots,and get ready to rock and roll. If you do not have a pair of boots, simply opt for a pair of ankle length shoes, and don’t forget to throw on some dark shades. it sure will do the trick.
Look 3: Two- piece magic For a more playful look, layer this dress with a floral skirt, which turns it to a two- piece look, so chic and very stylish. I added a belt to break this look so it really does look like a two serprate pieces and threw on a pair of mules to elevate this look. The trick to achieve this, is to wear either a long or midi length skirt.
Look 4: `Glam Bam To elevate this look three notches higher, I went with a pair of fringed out boot leg denim, tucked in one side of this dress threw on a nice pair of pointed kitten heel shoes. Bonus tip: Un-button one side of the dress, tuck it in loosely into a gorgeous pair of pants , add some statement earrings, for a more glam look, in this case, i added long fringed earrings to go with the fringe on my denim pants.
Look 5: Cover Up This dress can jolly well serve as a cover up jacket on a night out. To achieve this look, I went for a leopard print body suit top paired with a pair of brown leather pants, gold statement earrings and finished off with a pair of snake skin print strappy heel. Bonus tip: Pull out a sultry but comfortable look for a night out as you desire and opt for a shirt dress as a cover up jacket, jazz it up with statement shoes and accessories and get ready to hit the dance floor.

It is important to note that any style of mules of your choice will give you the same chic feeling, so go on and have fun with your favorite pair. *wink
Look 2: Worn with a flare skirt. A flare skirt elevates this dress, giving it so much character, while turning it into a two – piece outfit. The key is to pair a contrasting color of skirt with the dress or you can jolly well wear the same color so it looks like a matching set.
Look 3: White T-shirt. Wearing a white t-shirt with a slip dress can be quite magical. it gives you a casual yet retro effortless style. worn over the slip dress or as a layered piece, a white tee is surely a magic trick for that sporty type feel . Add a pair of white sneakers to this look and some bomb shades and you are so good to go. *Bonus trick: A pair of dad sandals , is also a very good style idea when wearing a tee with a slip dress.
Look 4: Drape with a kimono You definitely want to turn that simple slip dress into the best night out / dinner date head turning outfit. The key is to play with the style of kimono. it could be sequined , beaded , printed, lacy, long, mid- length, whatever your preference may be, just drape it on that dress, add some nice sparkly accessories and nice pair of heels and let your hair down.
Look 5: Level-up with a blazer.
This may be an unexpected style idea but trust me when i say a blazer immediately takes you three notches up. Pairing a blazer with a slip dress tells the story of a powerful, sexy, confident woman, who knows what she wants. This look commands attention and power. it will get the contracts signed faster, lol The key is to opt for an over size blazer, don’t have one, simply head on to your man’s closet, or your brother or dad’s, your options will be endless. * wink
Most importantly, make sure to always stay true to your style preference but its fun to be adventurous. keep it simple but have tons of fun while dressing up. style should be enjoyed.
